Four Corner Action

Four Corner Action

Due to the up and down of the Monument Valley, my mobile blogging was not happening. We barely got a room in Page, AZ!

Note to self… when in the desert and you have bars on your cell phone, pull over, stop and call the hotels before they fill up. ESPECIALLY on Labor Day weekend!

So the day went like this:

  1. Left Flagstaff with new shoes (blew a tire on the earlier pair of boots), new medication for Sniffy, feeling better.
  2. Don’t ask about the gas can incident.
  3. Hit Kayenta, AZ then finally 4 Corners.
  4. Walked in four states, drove in four states… all within 1 minute… yup.
  5. Headed toward Monument Valley losing the sun due to ominous rain clouds from the west. Not too noticable in the picture below…

By the way… I recommend stopping to watch a thunderstorm in the desert. Very cool!

Grand Canyon South Rim, sniffles and a great day

Gonna keep it short due to the lack of sleep I am giving myself.

Becca (girl friend) has a sore throat and sniffles. Ruben Valle, who was going to meet us for the trip from California, had to back out due to work (luv you Wuben! Sorry you couldn’t make it!). And an incident with a “duct taped” cheap cooler made the day interesting.

Oh, and we saw the South Rim of the Grand Canyon (minor detail). But besides all of the above it was a good day. Lots of pictures (soon to come if tech difficulties would become tech simplicities). Missed the sunset due to my labored gift shop shopping.

Off to the 4 Corners (Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado) and Monument Valley early in the morning and then to sleep in Page, Arizona. This is the longest of the driving legs and will be tiring to say the least. A day ago it was 104 F in Phoenix. I am not sure what the altitude of the 4 Corners is, but if it’s as low we are gonna melt.

Convertible is great… and wetter than it should be :)…
